Top 10 Moments of 2025-26
The Cecil College athletic department is proud to present the fourth edition of its Top 10 Moments series!
No. 1 - Softball Wins Region 20 Tournament
Cecil softball captured its first Region 20 championship since 2010, taking down the defending champion and No. 1 seed Potomac State on the Catamounts home field. Under the leadership of first year head coach Isabella Bungo, the Seahawks relied on a deep lineup and the arm of NJCAA All-American pitcher Taylor Stapleford to bring home the title.
No. 2 - Volleyball's Harris Breaks Career Kills Record
Sophomore Etta Harris surpassed 346 kills for her career, becoming Cecil volleyball's modern era leader in kills back in September. Harris finished her career with the Seahawks at 646 kills. She also broke her own single season kills record with 344 in 2026.
No. 3 - Stapleford Tosses 19 Strikeouts
Freshman right-handed pitcher Taylor Stapleford delivered several dazzling performances throughout the 2026 season. After nearly throwing a perfect game earlier in the year, Stapleford dealth 19 strikeouts in a 5-0 victory over Salem.
No. 4 - Volleyball Reaches Region 20 Semifinals
Cecil volleyball finished one point shy of the Region 20 tournament final, falling in a five-set thriller to the No. 3 seed Hagerstown Hawks. The No. 7 seeded Seahawks defeated No. 10 Garrett before upsetting No. 2 Southern Maryland in the quarterfinals in order to reach the semifinal round.
No. 5 - Baseball Scores 42 Runs
The Seahawks impressed in its 2026 home opener, pounding the Corning Red Barons 22-3 and 20-2 in mid-March. Cecil's 42 runs across the doubleheader are its most in modern program history.
No. 6 - Women's Basketball Clinches Postseason Position
For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Cecil women's basketball team secured a spot in the Region 20 tournament. The Seahawks toppled Potomac State, Montgomery, Prince George's down the stretch to get the job done.
No. 7 - Baseball's Woods Reaches 100 Hits
Sophomore outfielder Chris Woods became the first Seahawk since Pat O'Brien to reach 100 career hits while at Cecil. Woods collected 58 of them in 2026, finishing his career with 110 knocks.
No. 8 - Men's Basketball Upends Mercer County
Jeremiah Falko's jumper with five seconds left helped lift Cecil over Mercer County back on November 13. The sophomore guard finished with 31 points.
No. 9 - Men's Soccer Claims Region 20 Tournament Spot
The Seahawks took down Garrett and Carroll on the road to grab the final seed in the Region 20 tournament. Cecil took on No. 1 Howard in the first round and gave the Dragons all they could handle.
No. 10 - Softball Produces 41 Runs at Anne Arundel
Cecil secured its first sweep of its 2026 campaign, defeating Anne Arundel 21-0 and 20-4. Cecil's 41 runs were a season high and the most for the program since 2017.
