NORTH EAST, Md. - After a month-long delay due to weather, Cecil baseball competed at home for the first time in 2026. The Seahawks made the most of the opportunity, soundly defeating the Corning Red Barons twice on Sunday afternoon.
Cecil's 42 runs scored across the doubleheader are their most in modern program history. The Seahawks improve to 6-6 on the season after the sweep.
Game One - Cecil 22, Corning 3
Cecil took advantage of 12 walks and eight extra-base hits in the opener to take down Corning. The Seahawks scored in every frame they touched a bat, including an eight-run fourth to put the game away.
Kaden Kemp homered and doubled to lead the Seahawks, while Zach VanDyke doubled twice. Chris Woods and Luis Romero secured three hits each. Luis Romero topped Cecil with five RBI.
Trent Wolf (1-1) took the win on the hill for the Seahawks. Matt Jackson struck out three in the fourth, and Mason Richter tossed a scoreless inning in the fifth.
Game Two - Cecil 20, Corning 2
The Seahawks applied the same formula to the final contest, utlizing 11 walks and eight extra-base hits to take down the Red Barons.
Jevin Seifert and Braydon Janzer collected two doubles each. Seifert and Matt Jackson both produced three hits. Mason Richter homered and led the team with five RBI.
From the mound, Chris Woods (1-0) earned his first win of the year. He struck out five over three innings of work. Angel Luna tossed two shutout innings of relief.
