COLUMBIA, Md. - Despite a stunning opening half from Cecil men's soccer, the Seahawks had their 2025 campaign come to a close on Saturday afternoon via a 5-3 loss at top-seeded Howard.
The Seahawks finish the year 6-9-3.
Match Highlights
- Cecil stunned the Dragons early with Bent Althoff's first goal of the season just five minutes in
- Althoff made it 2-0 in the 20th minute off the back of a penalty kick
- The Seahawks continued to defend over the next 20 minutes, keeping Howard off the scoresheet
- Althoff struck again before the half, finding Koki Iwasaki on a free kick to put the Seahawks up 3-0
- Howard came out firing in the second half, scoring a pair of goals in the opening five minutes to cut the deficit
- The Sehawks surrendured a penalty kick of their own to Dragons in the 58th which they would convert to tie the game
- Howard took the lead in the 67th minute, then put the game to bed in the 82nd with their fifth goal of the half
