CATONSVILLE, Md. - Cecil baseball split a road doubleheader with CCBC-Catonsville, defeating the Cardinals in game one before falling in game two.
The Seahawks move to 9-6 overall.
Game One - Cecil 12, Catonsville 11
The Seahwks scored five runs in the top of the seventh, then got out of a jam in the bottom of the inning to squeeze past Catonsville.
Tied 7-7 entering the final frame, Cecil utlized several miscues by the host to go ahead 12-7. Mike Preske (1-1) struggled in the final frame, leading to Chris Woods being waved in from centerfield to take the mound. The sophomore would force the next two batters to fly out, earning a save and ending the contest in favor of the Seahawks.
Seven Cecil batters finished with one hit each. Matt Jackson led the Sehawks at the dish with three RBI, followed by two from Kaden Kemp and Tim Ramirez.
Game Two - Catonsville 7, Cecil 5
The Cardinals started hot, scoring all seven of its runs across the opening two frames. Cecil countered with three in second and two in the sixth but ultimately fell shorty.
Matt Jackson and Chris Woods combined for four hits and five RBI.
Pat Callahan (0-1) was stuck with the loss, while Ryan Flasinski tossed two scoreless frames out of the bullpen.
