BEL AIR, Md. - Cecil men's basketball led off its 2026 season with a pair of wins on opening day, defeating both SUNY Westchester and Erie. All three games were played at the Harford Sports Complex on the campus of Harford Community College.
The Seahawks stand at 2-0 to start the year.
Game One - Cecil 11, Westchester 1
Freshman pitcher Mason Burlingame dealt 10 strikeouts, and Cecil's offense collected 14 hits, leading the Seahawks to a one-sided victory to begin the day.
Burlingame decisively carved through the Vikings, allowing just one run on two hits through four innings. Mike Preske sat Westchester down in order to finish the game via run-rule.
Sophomore backstop Braydon Jazner led the Seahawks with three hits and two RBI. Fellow sophomore Andrew Baldini doubled twice. Matt Jackson, Kaden Kemp, and Ethan Neff chipped in two hits apiece.
Game Two - Cecil 9, Erie 5
A seven-run fifth by Cecil's bats boosted the Seahawks to its second win of the afternoon.
Five Seahawks chipped in one hit each, and four finished with two RBI. Chris Woods provided Cecil's lone extra-base hit via a double that drove home a pair of runs.
Ty Whittaker (1-0) scooped up the win in relief. The sophomore struck out three while allowing just one run on three hits.
