Cecil Softball NJCAA D2 World Series Preview: Day 2

NORTH EAST, Md. - The No. 20 seed Cecil softball remains in Spartanburg, S.C. for the NJCAA Division 2 World Series.
The Seahawks fell 1-0 in an opening round matchup with No. 13 Northwest Mississippi. Cecil moves into the bottom bracket and faces No. 14 Parkland (39-19).
Game Notes - Cecil
- Taylor Stapleford (17-3, 2.01 ERA) and Taja Souza (6-5, 5.02 ERA) headline the Seahawks pitching staff, which tossed 277 strikeouts this season
- Kylee Bergman (.459 AVG) leads Cecil's offense in home runs (eight) and RBI (52)
- As a unit, the Seahawks hold a .348 batting average, with a .433 on-base percentage, and a .501 slugging percentage
- Gabriella Smith and Keira Wolfe secured one hit each for Cecil against Northwest Mississippi
Game Notes - Parkland
- Parkland, a member of Region 20, defeated Richard Bland, 3-0, before losing 8-0 to defending champion Copiah-Lincoln on Tuesday afternoon
- Linndsey Muskopf (.432) and Lainey Klokkenga (59 RBI) headlines the Cobras offense
- Klokkenga (12-2, 3.17 ERA) and Lucy Fearday (16-6, 2.41 ERA) recorded 195 strikeouts
- The Cobras posted a .326 batting average, with a .394 on-base percentage, and a .564 slugging percentage as a team
