Stapleford Earns Region 20 Player of the Month
NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil softball pitcher Taylor Stapleford has been named the Region 20 Division 2 Player of the Month for April, as announced by region officials on Friday.
Stapleford finished April with a 5-1 record and a 1.58 ERA in the circle for the Seahawks. The freshman posted a 14.86 K/7 over 35 1/3 innings. Against Region 20 competition, she posted a 3-0 record with an 0.39 ERA. Stapleford tossed a no-hitter with 19 strikeouts against Salem on April 8, and struck out 11 of 12 batters against four-year Bloomfield College on April 18. She recorded 10+ strikeouts in four games with two more nine-strikeout games. At the dish, Stapleford hit .471 with two doubles.
Stapleford and the Seahawks captured the Region 20 Division 2 Championship on Sunday, earning an automac bid into the NJCAA Softball World Series. Cecil finds out its seed on Tuesday, May 12 at 4 p.m.
