BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Cecil softball took on USCAA foe Bloomfield on Saturday, falling in the opener before shutting out the Bears in the second game.
The Seahawks move to 15-9 overall.
Game One - Bloomfield 6, Cecil 4
Cecil could not overcome a slow start, as Bloomfield scored six runs across three innings then held on to win.
Taja Souza and Kylee Bergman finished with doubles each. Keira Wolfe and Lily DeLong had two hits and one RBI apiece.
Malea Ferdinando (0-3) took the loss from the circle. Taja Souza pitched three scoreless innings of relief, striking out three.
Game Two - Cecil 9, Bloomfield 0
Taylor Stapleford and Taja Souza tossed a combined no-hitter, guiding the Seahawks to a mercy rule victory in the closing contest.
Stapleford (10-2) walked just one batter over four frames while striking out 11. Souza closed out the fifth by retiring three straight via ground out.
Kylee Bergman continued her strong effort at the plate, finishing a triple short of the cycle. The freshman also had five RBI.
Keira Wolfe doubled, had two RBI and one stolen base. Gabriella Smith collected two base knocks.
