NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Cecil softball dropped two contests to the Monroe University Mustangs, who are bound for NCAA Division 2 next season.
Cecil falls to 14-8 after the defeats.
Game One - Monroe 12, Cecil 11
Cecil and Monroe traded big innings throughout the contest, with the Seahawks taking a 11-8 advantange to the bottom of the seventh. The Mustangs would plate four runs in the final frame to win the contest via walk-off.
Stapleford (9-2) collected three hits and scored two runs, while also striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings of work. Keira Wolfe hit a pair of inside the park home runs and drove home five RBI thanks to Monroe's oversized field. Kylee Bergman had on inside the park bomb and drove in two.
Game Two - Monroe 11, Cecil 0
Lily DeLong recorded two hits and Taja Souza had one.
Souza (5-4) suffered the loss from the circle but struck out three.
