NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil softball earned its fifth split of the season, defeating Frederick in the opener before closing out the day with a loss.
The Seahawks are 13-5 (10-4 R20) after Saturday's results.
Game One - Cecil 11, Frederick 1
Cecil received a well-rounded performance in game one, defeating the Cougars via mercy rule.
Five Seahawks recorded two hits each, led by a pair of doubles from Gabriella Smith. Keira Wolfe homered and drove home five. Kylee Bergman recorded two singles and three RBI. Taja Souza had two base knocks and swiped two bases.
Taylor Stapleford (8-1) hurled 11 strikeouts while allowing just one run on four hits for the win.
Game Two - Frederick 8, Cecil 0
The Seahawks saw their struggles continue in the second game of a doubleheader, recording just three hits. Riley deRoulac doubled for Cecil's only extra-base hit.
Taja Souza (5-3) suffered the loss from the circle.
