Stapleford Named Region 20 Co-Player of the Month
NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil softball pitcher Taylor Stapleford has been named the Region 20 Division 2 Co-Player of the Month for March, as announced by region officials late last week.
The freshman righty has been brilliant in the circle for the Seahawks. Stapleford recorded at least 12 strikeouts in all but one start, posting a 7-1 record. She led the entire National Junior College Athletic Association with 13.67 strikeouts per seven innings. In 50 2/3 innings pitched, she allowed 16 earned runs on 36 hits while striking out 96.
Stapleford fanned 12 batters in her collegiate debut vs. Howard on March 5, and recorded a then career-high 16 strikeouts against Allegany on March 28. Stapleford tossed a no-hitter against Hagerstown on March 21.
