NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil softball split a doubleheader CCBC-Catonsville on Wednesday afternoon. The Seahawks move to 9-3 after the split.
Game One - Cecil 6, Catonsville 1
Taylor Stapleford (5-1) hurled 13 strikeouts, leading the Seahawks to a victory in the opener. The freshman sat down the Cardinals in order three times, including the seventh.
At the dish, Keira Wolfe recorded three hits and three runs. Gabriella Smith registered Cecil's two extra-base hits wih a double and a solo homer. Lily DeLong earned two RBI and two hits.
Game Two - Catonsville 13, Cecil 4
Kylee Bergman recorded two hits, including a double, as Cecil fell in the closing contest.
Gabriella Smith also doubled and drove home three to keep the game alive in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lily DeLong grabbed Cecil's first RBI of the game with a single.
Taja Souza (4-2) was tabbed for the loss, while Malea Ferdinando struck out four batters in relief.
