ABERDEEN, Md. - Cecil softball took two games from Division 1 foe Harford on Thursday afternoon inside the Ripken Sports Complex.
The Seahawks improve to 6-2 after the sweep.
Game One - Cecil 7, Harford 1
Taylor Stapleford (3-1) tossed 13 strikeouts, leading to a victory over Harford in the opener.
Cecil trailed 1-0 after two frames, but kept the Fighting Owls off the scoreboard the rest of the day.
Three RBI singles put Cecil ahead 3-1 after four. An error and a ground-rule double score two more in the sixth before Kylee Bergman's two-run blast put the Seahawks far ahead. Stapleford sat down the side in order to finish the game in the seventh.
Taja Souza led with three hits, including a double. Seven additional Seahawks recorded one hit each.
Game Two - Cecil 18, Harford 1
The Seahawks blew out the Fighting Owls in the second contest, scoring 18 runs over just three innings. This included a nine-run second.
A half-dozen Cecil batters collected at least two hits, with two more recording one. Taja Souza and Gabriella Smith tallied four hits each, with Lily DeLong earning three. Kylee Bergman homered for the second straight game.
Souza (3-1) was also solid from the circle, tossing three strikeouts while allowing just one run on four hits.
