CARNEY'S POINT - Cecil College softball picked up a pair of non-region victories on Friday, defeating the Salem Mighty Oaks in convincing fashion.
The Seahawks are now 11-9 for the season.
Game One - Cecil 14, Salem 7
Led by Tristan Canavan monster performance at the plate, the Seahawks doubled up Salem to start the day. The freshman infielder finished 5-for-5 with six RBI, two home runs, and a double.
After giving up a run in the first, Cecil would plate five in the second to take the lead. Both teams scored one in the next frame, but the Seahawks scored three in the fourth to move comfortably ahead. A five-run seventh from Cecil put the game away for good.
Layla Hopkins and Briana Rebman finished with three hits each. Rebman mashed a homer and a double, while Hopkins chipped in a trio of singles. Four additional Seahawks tallied two hits each.
From the circle, Gianna Dougherty (7-4) struck out eight to earn the win.
Game Two - Cecil 11, Salem 6
The Seahawks continued to pile on hits, scoring 11 runs on 19 knocks to seal a sweep of the Mighty Oaks.
Seven of Cecil's hits went for extra bases. Gianna Dougherty went deep once and doubled twice, while Briana Rebman produced one of each again. Sloane Tanner and Layla Hopkins added three singles apiece.
Amaia Smith (4-4) twirled the first four innings of the contest to grab the win. Dougherty finished off the final three frames, recorded three K's to earn her third save of the year.
