Three Seahawks Named to All-Region 20 Team
NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil College's Tyler Burkowski, Nick Kormann, and Bent Althoff have been voted to the All-Region 20 Division 2 team, as announced by region officials this week.
Tyler Burkowski | First Team | Sophomore | Defender
Burkowski transfered from Goldey-Beacom College and made an immediate impact this fall on both sides of the field. Offensively, Burkowski scored three goals, including a pair of penalty kicks. He led a Cecil back line that ranked among the top three in R20 in goals per match. The Rising Sun, Maryland native was the only Seahawk to play in and start all 18 games.
Nick Kormann | First Team | Freshman | Goalkeeper
Kormann led R20 in saves (143) and save percentage (.841), while also finishing third in goals-against average (2.01). The German-born goalie made over 10 stops on eight occasions, including a 26-save performance against nationally ranked Mercer County. Kormann collected two shutouts, while allowing just one goal on five additional occasions.
Bent Althoff | Honorable Mention | Sophomore | Midfielder
Althoff was the leader in the middle of the pitch for the Seahawks. An Itzehoe, Germany product, Althoff scored two goals and led the team with five assists. Althoff saved his two best performances for late in the season, grabbing two assists in a win over Garrett (Oct. 16). He would have hand in every one of Cecil's goals in its quarterfinal matchup with top-seed Howard, scoring a brace while assisting on the third.
