After facing a defeat from Harcum College just two weeks ago, Cecil College returned the favor on Tuesday night by defeating the Bears 3-1 by scores of 25-17, 25-14, 22-25, and 25-20. The victory marked the fifth-straight for Cecil College, each by a 3-0 or 3-1 margin. The non-conference win helps the Seahawks improve to 9-4 overall and remain at 8-2 in conference play.
The Seahawks' attack was, once again, led by sophomore co-captions Brittany Atkins and Kirra Barrett. The duo combined for 30 of Cecil's 40 kills and 8 of Cecil's 11 service aces in the match. Despite a few ball handling errors, freshman setter Sarah Blevins dished out 27 assists and added one kill. The Seahawks combined for 71 total digs in the match, arguably sealing the team victory. Freshman libero Emily Ritchie tallied 24 of the team's 71 digs.
Volleyball returns to action on Thursday, October 10 with hopes of capturing their six-straight victory against conference rival Montgomery College. The first serve between the Seahawks and Raptors is set for 7:00 p.m. on the campus of Cecil College.
